FRONTLINES Roblox Melee and Gadgets in FRONTLINES

Knife finishes, frag grenades, and when gadgets beat another magazine.

Melee and Gadgets

Every FRONTLINES operator carries melee and explosives alongside primaries and secondaries. MAXIMILLIAN’s shooter launched February 22, 2023 on Roblox as online 7v7 action across Team Deathmatch, Kill Confirmed, Domination, and King of the Hill. Gadgets do not show up on the weapons tier list, yet they decide hill breaks, confirm routes, and reload windows. This guide covers the knife, two frag grenades per life, and the decision tree for when gadgets beat spraying another mag.

Gadget slots in your kit

A complete loadout includes primary, secondary, three skills, melee, and grenades. Skills live on skills loadouts; guns on primary weapons and secondary weapons. Gadgets are the often-ignored layer that separates Domination stacks from TDM wanderers.

You respawn with two frag grenades each life. They do not replace gunskill — they punish players who stack one choke without trading space. Treat each frag as a planned resource, not a panic button when your primary still has ammo.

Frag grenades: when to throw

Domination and King of the Hill: Stack breaks are the highest-value throws. When three enemies anchor a point, one well-timed frag forces reposition while your team pushes. Coordinate verbally or with short chat — “nade hill” beats silent throws that hit teammates.

Kill Confirmed: Frags clear confirm lanes. Throw into a tag pile only after you know a teammate covers the trade. Greedy nades that kill you mid-throw feed double tags to the enemy.

Team Deathmatch: Lower priority, but frags still win door fights on Factory when enemies hold behind cover. Do not open with nade and wide swing the same angle twice — predictable timing gets prefired.

Map context from Maps and Modes: Tight Factory corridors maximize frag value. Launch Canyon open lanes waste nades unless enemies cluster on a known hold. Cavalcade mixed zones reward one frag per rotation, not both frags on the first contact.

Frag discipline: two per life

With only two grenades, track usage mentally:

  1. First frag: Objective break or clear a hard anchor.
  2. Second frag: Reserve for the next hill tick or retake — not for style on a single duel.

If both frags whiff, play cover and reload discipline from Controls instead of ego pushing. Nightwing players especially die reloading in the open when a nade could have forced enemies off cover first.

Pair grenade timing with skills from the skills tier list that reward objective play. Entry aggression perks do not refund wasted frags.

Knife: when melee wins

Melee is a finisher, not a primary weapon. Valid knife swings happen when:

  • You caught an enemy one-tap from death during a reload swap window
  • An opponent is focused on a teammate and you are already in melee range
  • You cleared a room with AS VAL or Nightwing and the last player panicked without hearing footsteps

Invalid knife attempts — swinging at full-health enemies mid-lane, chasing snipers across Launch Canyon, or meleeing when your gun still has ammo — donate kills. Audio matters: crouch-walk when possible; sprinting footsteps announce the knife before you arrive.

Mobile players face harder melee timing due to HUD clutter — read Mobile Guide before forcing knife plays on touch controls.

Gadgets vs gunplay tradeoffs

Three enemies on hillFrag to break stackSpray into smoke and die reloading
Enemy behind hard coverFrag or flankWide swing same angle twice

Secondaries from secondary weapons overlap knife windows. Prefer pistol swap when range is uncertain; knife only when you are already in melee range and audio confirms isolation.

Mode-specific gadget playbook

Domination: Save at least one frag for retake rounds. Capturing empty points rarely needs nades; breaking anchors needs both frags coordinated across two lives if the first fails.

King of the Hill: Early hill arrival with a frag can deny enemy setup. Late hill ticks matter more — do not waste both nades when the hill is about to move.

Kill Confirmed: Frags on tag piles are bait magnets. Clear with gun first, nade only if multiple tags cluster behind cover.

Team Deathmatch: Gadgets are optional flavor unless the lobby stacks Factory chokes. Still practice throws so Domination queues do not feel foreign.

Linking gadgets to meta guns

Nightwing and AS VAL entry kits from Best Loadouts need frags before door rushes. AWM lane kits rarely throw — their gadget value is denying pushes into held pixels when enemies try to collapse your angle. MP5 and M4 mid kits use frags to force reposition during objective ticks without committing to full CQB range.

Attachments do not upgrade grenades, but Attachments on your primary determine whether you need frags to finish fights or can win on gun alone.

Fair play and performance

Exploiters with impossible grenade spam are votekick targets — use /votekick [player name] [reason] per Votekick and Hackers. Legitimate frags obey stock physics; do not install scripts that fake gadget advantages.

If enemies seem to teleport after throws, check FPS Performance before accusing everyone. Low graphics 1–3 clarifies where nades land.

Learning path for new players

Day one from Getting Started: learn reload and swap timing before knife heroics. Day two: throw one frag per life in Domination to learn hill timing. Day three: pair frags with a CQB primary you control. Credits and unlocks still come from leveling — codes are inactive, so gadget skill is free progression.

FRONTLINES has 200M+ visits with veterans who sound-whore footsteps and punish predictable nade lines. Vary timing, pair with teammates, and rotate when frags fail instead of repeating the same door swing.

Gadgets are tempo tools. Spend frags on objectives, knives on confirmed finishes, and magazines on everything else.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for FRONTLINES operators.

How many grenades do you get per life?

Two frag grenades each life. Plan throws — see Domination tips in Maps and Modes.

When should I use the knife?

Only on confirmed one-tap enemies already in melee range. Not as a panic button — practice swaps in Controls.

Best mode to practice grenades?

Domination and King of the Hill. Hill breaks teach timing better than pure TDM.

Do gadgets replace meta guns?

No. Nightwing and AS VAL still win CQB — gadgets break stacks so those guns can push.

Should I nade before peeking?

Sometimes on hills, but vary timing. Predictable nade-peek loses to prefires on Factory.

Where do loadout gadgets fit?

Alongside skills and guns on skills loadouts and Best Loadouts.
